Politics at rest

March was marked not only by the arrival of spring – it was a special month in the country's political life. In one way or another, the Russian presidential elections influenced the real estate market. It seemed that all the participants took a break waiting for the outcome. The most 'sensitive' players were the buyers! They were clearly holding back their savings watching the swing of the price pendulum. In turn, developers wondered how populist would the statements of some candidates be, and which of them would be considered in the future work of the head of state. Well, at least we managed to avoid prolonging the period of uncertainty for a month by avoiding re-elections… And what do our experts think about the current situation in the market?

Yuriy Sinyaev, Marketing Director of the Konti Group: Last year's trends remain. Steady price growth on the inflation level: slightly more, slightly less, depending on the real estate segment. Demand for real estate in Moscow will be heated by the deficit of residential square meters, which will naturally influence the price trend. Another trend – strengthening of centrifugal forces (in the sense of building sites). Its development is associated with the ban on infill construction in the city center and plans to expand Moscow. This trend will continue to build up capacity.
Elections had no substantial impact on the development of the market situation. Because, first of all, the real estate market is an inert market: such events affect it very indirectly. Second, elections are not a sudden event: their date was known long beforehand. And all the hype associated with them has long been played up by the real estate market.
